The AP-Z218 does more than route one amplifier to many zones — its 4x4 matrix lets four separate programme sources reach four groups of four zones independently, so different parts of a building can carry different audio at the same time.
A fifth priority channel overrides all of it when an emergency or paging signal arrives, with priority contact inputs on all 16 zones activated by a 0V trigger.
That combination suits venues where a retail floor, a restaurant, an office wing and a back-of-house area each want their own programme but must all be reachable by one announcement.
Inputs take 100V or 70V audio, handling 375W per channel with a total capacity of 1.5kW. An alarm output provides a 0V trigger signal to downstream equipment. Control is by 16 zone push buttons and a power switch. The 2U full-metal chassis runs from 200-240V AC with fuse protection at under 20W.
